Household Hazardous Waste
Part of the Kiowa County Recycle Center, the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) program gives citizens a place to properly dispose of chemicals and other items that could pose a threat to humans and their environment. If you have any of the following items, please bring them to the HHW facility instead of mixing them with normal solid waste.
- Pesticides
- Aerosol Cans
- Latex Paint
- Oil or Solvent based Paints
- Furniture Stripper
- Stains, Varnishes, and other Wood Finishes
- Thinner and Turpentine
- Wood Preservatives
- Antifreeze
- Brake Fluids
- Cleaning and Polish Products
- Oils
- Transmission Fluid
- Household Cleaners
- Bleach
- Drain Cleaners
- Mothballs
- Pastes, Poisons, Polishes, and Caulk
- Photographic Chemicals
- Pool Chemicals
- Rug and Upholstery Cleaner
The following items will not be accepted as HHW:
- Asbestos
- Commercial Waste
- Compressed Gas Cylinders
- Explosives and Ammunition
- Medical Waste
- Radioactive Materials
HHW must be recorded when brought in, so please check with an employee when dropping off all HHW. Employees may ask residents to take back any items that are unlabeled or unknown. Also keep in mind the program is for individual residents only. Any waste of a commercial nature cannot be accepted. If you have any questions about potentially hazardous waste, please give us a call. We will do our best to let you know how to dispose of it properly.

HHW Schedule
The HHW facility is open on the first Saturday of every month from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. The HHW facility is located in the Recycling Center at 1002 S. Grove in Greensburg, KS.
